This WebQuest involves reading and searching weblinks to find information on specific areas of the Tlingit tribe. Explain to students that they will be working in teams to explore information about the Tlingit Indians of the Northwest Coast. Explain to students that they will be finding information by reading and taking notes on information about the Tlingits.
Divide the class into Home Teams of four students each(if possible) and number students off from one to four. For this activity, we will use a study method called "Jigsaw." These teams of four are your Home Teams. Within your Home Teams, each team member will only be responsible for finding information on a certain topic and will become an "expert" on that topic. Students will work with other experts to learn about the their topic. Then students will meet back together to share that information with the other members of their Home Team.
You can have students create a project based on the information they learned. In this WebQuest students will be using PowerPoint to create slides of information they learned. You can use any technology you feel will work with your students.
Here are Cooperative Group Managment Cards I used to create the home and expert teams in my class. Copy the pages back to back.
