2. Language Arts AM and PM
Read for about 20 minutes each day.                                      This is a great way to build reading stamina and knowledge of vocabulary.
We have a scholastics bookclub code to use online. It is HFPHZ.
 
      Guided Reading Groups - There are 2 groups in my Language Arts classes now for special end-of-the-year reading tasks
 
Writing! Writing! Writing!
 
Can you write a full essay, with 4-5 paragraphs, that compare and contrast?
 
Word Work  -
Word work and vocabulary will be incorporated into Language Arts (LA). Students have been given new lists that focus on words and affixes. We are excited to work with these words in Language Arts class! Remember to use them to enhance your writing!

**On May 23, author Gordon Korman will be visiting our school. Reference Mrs. March's DAIS News email for details.**
 
It Is That Time of Year...
**When things get crazy! Be sure to check the schedule emailed home each week to see what is happening in our school during April and May. Events include Fun Day, Track Meet, Music concerts, and other celebrations**
 
Reading: Read 20 minutes every night, and 30 minutes over the weekend. In class, students are reading and learning how to compare and contrast adventure stories
 Book Club: Students are entering Week 3 of their Adventure Book Club. Stories include On the Run, Island, and Kidnapped by Gordon Korman, as well as The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo.
  Writing: It is essay time! Students are working to create four compare/contrast essays by the end of May. They will pick their favorite to edit, revise, and publish.

Current Events will continue this MP. Two to three students will present each week on Friday (see Current Event Rubric below).
