Dallastown Area Intermediate School PTO
Committee and Volunteer opportunities

The PTO is pleased to offer many activities and events for DAIS students. This list 
briefly describes our different committees and their needs. Contacts are listed but to 
ensure privacy, their personal contact information is not listed.  You may also contact
 
 
 
· Art Show: With the art teachers, establishes a group of volunteers and a
schedule to help set up the student’s artwork for the Art Show in May. Several
volunteers are needed.
 
· Assemblies: Chooses and schedules assemblies for the school throughout the
year. Works with principals and 1st Vice President to find appropriate and
interesting assemblies.
 
· Author’s Visit: Arranges for authors to visit the school to discuss their books and
the writing process.
 
· Book Fair: Organizes the Fall and Spring Book Fairs with Scholastic. Several
volunteers are needed to help with set up, purchase days, and take down.
 
· Dollars for Scholars (DFS): Promotes the DFS Fall Festival at DAIS and collects candy
donations for the event.  Also coordinates the Penny War benefiting DFS in February.
 
· Fun Day: Organizes a day of activities that are held during the school day.
Activities may include games, crafts, food, and rides. Many volunteers are
needed to help plan beforehand and run the activities during the day.
 
· Fun Run: Organizes the fundraising efforts for this fun day for current and future
students. Works with a team of volunteers to establish schedules, arrange for
prizes, and make the day run smoothly. Many volunteers are needed.
 
· Rewards Programs (Box Tops/Campbell's/Giant/ShurFine/Target): Prepares
forms and collects applications from families that wish to support DAIS through
rewards programs.  Establishes an account with each program and submits proper 
paperwork.
 
· Grade-Level Activities: Organizes an activity to be held for each grade.  Many
volunteers are needed.
 
· Hospitality: Organizes activities and events for Conference Teacher Meals (Nov & May),
Teacher Appreciation (May), Presidential Academic Award Breakfast (May), etc.
 
· Newsletter: Publishes and distributes the newsletter with articles submitted
by the committees. Submits the newsletter for posting on the DAIS website. 
Maintains the PTO website with current information.
 
· Memory Book: Prepares the Memory Book. Requires several photographers at
school events.
 
· Parent Advisory Group (PAG): Executive PTO board members attend scheduled
group meetings with our superintendent to discuss issues pertaining to our school
district.
 
· Performing Arts: Acts as a representative for DAIS with representatives from
other schools in the district to choose and coordinate a district-wide assembly.
 
· Spirit Wear: Chooses spirit wear items. Distributes flyers/order forms. Organizes
orders and pick up. Volunteers needed for distribution.
 
· Student Directory: Prepares and publishes a directory of staff and students.
 
· Team Parent: Works with team teachers to plan parties and other events during the
school year; assists with drafting the student directory; helps with team prizes
awarded after the Fun Run.
