Dallastown Area School District, under the provisions of No Child Left Behind, receives funding to help supplement the educational opportunities at three of our five elementary buildings. Those elementary buildings include Dallastown, Ore Valleyand York Township. Title I, Part A provides federal dollars to our district to help supplement the reading services in each building.
Dallastown offers a Targeted Assistance program in which individual students are targeted to receive Title I services. Students are identified based upon multiple, objective, educationally related criteria. Services may be delivered in a number of ways, including both in-class instruction, and pull-out instruction. The Title I teacher(s) are responsible for providing extra services to the identified children, coordinating with other school personnel involved with the children and involving parents in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the Title I Program.
During the course of a school year, we offer several different programs for parents and children. Please see the Title I Calendar of Events for specific dates of these programs. We also offer a summer program. Ready, Set, Read is for identified children in grades 1 and 2. Parents are contacted through the mail in June, if their child qualifies for this summer program.
If you have anyquestions about the Title 1 Program, you can contact your child’s assign TitleI Reading Teacher, the classroom teacher or Dr. Stephanie A. Ferree. Dr. Ferree is the Principal of York Township Elementary and the Title I Program Director for the Dallastown Area School District. She can be reached at 741-2281.
