Conclusion

Hopefully this WebQuest has left you better informed and further aware of how we, as individuals and as a society, are manipulated on a daily basis via propaganda. Additionally, it’s my sincere wish that this WebQuest has given you the tools to be more of an independent thinker as well as a more persuasive and effective communicator.

Perhaps the following quote from The Fine Art of Propaganda, by the Institute for Propaganda Analysis sums up best why being aware of propaganda is so vitally important:

"It is essential in a democratic society that young people and adults learn how to think, learn how to make up their minds. They must learn how to think independently, and they must learn how to think together. They must come to conclusions, but at the same time they must recognize the right of other men to come to opposite conclusions. So far as individuals are concerned, the art of democracy is the art of thinking and discussing independently together."
