English Language Learning
The goal of the Dallastown Area School District English Language Learning (ELL) Program is to provide students with the English language skills needed for both successful school performance and everyday living. This goal is addressed by providing ELL instruction at the appropriate proficiency level, aligning content area instruction with the corresponding standards, and adapting instruction and assessment processes to meet the needs of the English Language Learners (ELLs).
Reading, writing, listening and speaking skills are taught and integrated in all subject areas to insure students are successful in the classroom and society. The ELL teacher works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to develop language acquisition and cognitive academic language skills needed by the English Language Learners to be proficient in all content areas.
