Student Assistance Program (SAP)
Many students experience problems which not only interfere with their educational performance, but with their physical, mental, social and emotional development as well. When students encounter issues such as these, teachers, counselors, administrators and other school staff are concerned. Help is available for students having difficulties. The Dallastown Area Middle School Student Assistance Program is a systematic, professional and realistic response to students’ problems in our school.
The Middle School began the Student Assistance Program in response to needs and issues concerning adolescent substance abuse and suicide. As our program has evolved, our focus has changed to include the daily concerns of the developing adolescent. We’re here to help students deal with problems that are stopping them from doing well in school. It could be any factors such as dropping grades, peer pressure, to drugs and alcohol. Our commitment is to provide an environment to identify and to help those students whose lives are being negatively affected.
