DALLASTOWN MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENT COUNCIL
A Three-fold purpose

All  student council representatives and officers are committed to learning about leadership and becoming actively involved in practicing procedures of leadership including, Parliamentary Procedure, Committee Chairmanship, Committee Membership, Team Building, Public Speaking, and Public Relations.  Representatives attend a training session in August and then continue to learn and practice throughout the year meeting twice a cycle as a group and twice a cycle in small focus groups.

The second purpose of the student council is to foster community awareness and participation.  Students actively research, promote, and fund-raise for the benefit of various community organizations.  Through their participation, they are striving to understand a broader picture of school and community cooperation and encourage school understanding of this picture.

The third major focus of the student council is to promote school spirit and student participation in the school community.  Representatives design, promote, and participate in "spirit days" each month that are coordinated around a theme specific to that month and also sponsor dances and other social events for the benefit of all the students.  The primary motivator for all of the events is a year-long incentive program called Happy Hershey Points in which homerooms are awarded points on the basis of participation in student council activities, academics, and student citizenship.  The winners in each grade are rewarded with a trip to Hershey Park as well as other fun options.
