LOGANVILLE-SPRINGFIELD PTO MEETING Minutes from April 2, 2012
CALL TO ORDER PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE TREASURE’S REPORT: The Wolfgang money was deposited. We paid for the laminator that was purchased for the workroom. CORRESPONDENCE: Nothing to report at this time. COMMITTEE REPORTS: ·SPIRIT WEAR- Papers will be sent home with students after spring break and orders will be in the first week of May. ·PERFORMING ARTS- The students will have a chance to go to DAIS to see Jonathon Sprout who is a children’s singer/song writer. ·STAFF APPRECIATION- Activities were shared for the week of May 7th-11th. Donations will be needed to help fill baskets of supplies for the teachers. Other great things planned. TEACHER REPRESENTATIVE: Mrs. Prieber wanted to continue w/the gratitude the staff has for all the PTO does, especially the snacks that were provided during PSSA testing. The staff sends a big thank you for the laminator that was purchased by the PTO. SWEBS: The students very much enjoyed the bounce houses provided by the PTO. It seems to be one of the favorite SWEBS award. PRINCIPAL’S REPORT:Mr. Carl thanked everyone for the cards, flowers, thoughts and prayers from the loss of his mother. He noted the laminator is working out great and can only be used if trained on it. He was so proud of the 3rdgraders for how extremely hard they worked during the PSSA testing! He also went over the Willy Wonka reading challenge and how 99% of the students participated so he would be made into a human sundae by 1 student from each class! The fun will take place on Wed April 4th. Then he went on to announce baby Buer was born. His name is Jacob and baby and mommy are both doing well. Miss O’Donnell will finish out the year in Mrs. Buer’s room. On April 16thauthor Kevin O’Malley will be visiting the school. Report cards will be sent home April 4th. Portfolio conferences will take place on May 7th. UNFINISHED BUSINESS: A vote was taken to purchase gift cards from Amazon for the teachers that are retiring. The teachers retiring will purchase supplies to donate back to the school. NEW BUSINESS: A vote was taken to donate $50 to the staff BOLD BLUE DAY. . .a charity that means a lot to Mrs. Hildebrand. PARENT ADVISORY GROUP: Dr. Dyer will be having a budget meeting on 4/2/12. Also they are reinstating computer class to the 3rdgrade students next school year. The 2012-2013 school calendar was approved. The first day of school will be on Aug 22, 2012. An ice cream social will take place on Aug 16thfor the new kindergarten students and their families. Orientation will take place on Aug 20th. DATES TO REMEMBER: ·MAY 5th- MAY DAY ·MAY 7th- No School-Portfolio conferences ·MAY 14th- Next PTO Meeting, 9:30am in the staff lounge
