On October 22, 2006 Alumni Volunteer Class Administrators and
Assistants from nearly all the decades since the 1940's met and voted to
formalize the Dallastown Alumni Association under the umbrella of the
Dallastown Area Educational Foundation providing immediate 501(c) (3)
tax exempt status for donations made to alumni efforts through the
Foundation. The next day the Dallastown Area Educational Foundation
Board of Directors met with Alumni representatives and mutually agreed
to unite. After a unanimous vote the Association became formalized under
the Foundation. Alumni Association leadership (Class
Administrators and Assistant Administrators) now normally meet three
times a year around the time of the Alumni events listed above. These
meetings typically involve alumni business /concerns and immediately
afterwards a workshop is offered to all Class Administrators and their
Assistants on different aspects/functions of the individual class
websites. Alumni also provide reports to the Education Foundation at
their regular monthly Directors meeting.
The current objectives for the Dallastown Alumni Association are:
Historical:
To finish building the individual class sites by loading all names of
graduates in the respective classes , the senior photos and and their
contact information last on file. To update your contact information
click your class website below and click the Log On Button and follow
the directions. Special thanks to Frank Schmuck (CA 1984), Angel Fanton-Kern (CA 1982), Shane Krout (CA 1988), Stephanie (Tif) Carlson Janssen (CA 1987), Heather Johnson (Ca 1990) and Keith Ehrhart
(CA 1960) along with other Class Administrators who have worked
tirelessly loading names, photos and contact information of their class
and classes without administrators.
Activity:
Alumni activity is focused around three events each year. Two events
are supported by Alumni. They are the Dollars for Scholars and the
Homecoming Football Game/Dance. Note: Alumni are involved with the
Dollars for Scholars Awards Banquet through each individual class and
their respective decision to offer a scholarship . The third
event, the All Alumni Family and Friends Picnic, is open to the public
and held the last Saturday in July each summer. This Picnic is
completely the responsibility of Dallastown Alumni. Each Alumni Class is
asked to handle a specific task concerning the picnic and donate at
least one item valued at $25 or more to be used as prizes.
