What is Coronavirus?
COVID-19 is a contagious respiratory illness caused by a new coronavirus infection called SARS-CoV-2. This virus spreads quickly and is mainly thought to spread by close contact from person to person. COVID-19 spreads in respiratory droplets when someone sneezes, coughs, or talks and another person is in close contact (within 6 feet). People infected with COVID-19 are capable of exposing others even if their symptoms are mild, such as a cough, or even if they are not showing any symptoms. Exposure to COVID-19 is also possible by touching a surface or object that has the virus on it and then touching one’s mouth, nose, or eyes.
