Dallastown Area High School Recognizes Award Winners at 60th Annual Science and Engineering Fair

The Reserve and Grand Champions for the 60th Annual Engineering and Science FairThe 60th Annual Science and Engineering Fair was held on January 24-26, 2020 at Dallastown Area High School. 

More than 120 student projects were entered in 11 different categories including biochemistry, engineering, environmental science, and physics. Projects were judged by a team of scientists and industry experts in the respective categories. 

The Junior High Reserve Grand Champion was Jeremiah Ondrasik, for his “Ballistic Pendulum” project. The Junior High Grand Champion was Mia Karlie, for her research on “Glycerin’s Effect on Banana Based Bioplastic’s Tensile Strength.” 

The Senior High Reserve Grand Champion was Astha Ray, for her research on “Engineering an Aptamer-Based Lateral Flow Assay for Plasma Dopamine Detection.” The Senior High Grand Champion was Ibnat Meah, for her research on “Instrumentation & Investigation of Phade-Antibiotoc Synergy on K. pneumoniae, H. alvei, & Transductant H. alvei.”

Students will now enter their work in the York Regional Science and Engineering Fair held in March at Penn State York.
