Dallastown Area Board of School Directors Region 1 Vacancy

(Dallastown, PA)At its Thursday, September 17, 2020 meeting, the Dallastown Area Board of School Directors regretfully received the resignation of School Director John Hartman, effective Saturday, October 31, 2020, so that he can focus on personal family needs. Fellow board members expressed their sincerest gratitude for his service and dedication since December 2013.

 

As per Board Policy 004, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment, by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Board, within thirty (30) days of the occurrence of the vacancy. In this case, the successful candidate will take his/her oath the night of the Special Board Meeting for the candidate interviews on Monday, November 9, 2020. S/he shall be appointed for the remainder of the unexpired term until December 2021.

Interested candidates must reside in Region 1 of Dallastown Area School District, which includes the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Wards of York Township, and meet the following qualifications:

 

1.     S/He shall be of good moral character, at least eighteen (18) years of age, shall have been a resident of the district for at least one (1) year prior to the date of his/her election or appointment, and shall not be a holder of any office or position of profit under any government in the School District of Dallastown Area nor shall s/he be a member of a municipal council.

2.     S/He shall not have been removed from any office of trust under federal, state or local laws for any malfeasance in such office.

3.     Except as provided by law, s/he shall not be engaged in a business transaction with the school district, be employed by the school district, or receive pay for services from the school district.

4.     S/He shall, before entering the duties of the office, take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation prescribed by statute.

5.     S/He shall file a statement of financial interests with the school district at the following times: a. Before taking the oath of office or entering upon his/her duties.

a.     Annually by May 1 serving on the Board.

b.     By May 1 of the year after leaving the Board.

 

Please submit a detailed letter of interest and resume to the School Board Secretary, District Administration Building, 700 New School Lane, Dallastown, PA 17313, between 8:00 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2020 and 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2020.

You’ll then receive a Candidate Packet to be completed by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, October 19, 2020.

 

Eligible candidates should also be available for public interviews at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2020.
