Dallastown Elementary has been named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education. The coveted award recognizes overall academic excellence or notable progress in closing achievement gaps.

“The Dallastown Elementary family is very excited about being named a 2020 National Blue Ribbon School. Our entire staff members go above and beyond to connect with each child and their families,” principal Charles Patterson said.

Dallastown Wildcat Spirit was present everywhere as Patterson made the official Blue Ribbon announcement on Thursday afternoon.  Patterson said “we truly are a “School Family” at Dallastown Elementary and feel that our positive environment sets us apart from most schools. This environment has enhanced learning experiences for our students and that has led to their academic success.  It’s exciting to be recognized for our efforts by receiving this award!”

“We’re very proud of this recognition,” said DASD Superintendent Dr. Joshua Doll. “It honors schools that work to promote a positive climate and strong academic achievement.”

U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos recognized 367 schools as National Blue Ribbon Schools on September 24. “It’s a privilege to recognize the extraordinary work you do to meet students’ needs and prepare them for successful careers and meaningful lives.”

An award recognition ceremony will be held virtually in November for the winning schools.
