Region 2 Board Vacancy

At its April 24, 2025 Board Business Meeting, the Dallastown Area Board of School Directors regretfully received the resignation of School Director Sarah Hostler, effective Friday, May 9, 2025. Fellow board members expressed their sincerest gratitude for her service and dedication since December 2019.

As per Board Policy 004, the vacancy shall be filled by appointment, by a majority vote of the remaining members of the Board, within thirty (30) days of the occurrence of the vacancy. In this case, the successful candidate will take his/her oath the night of the Special Board Meeting for the candidate interviews on Monday, June 2, 2025. The candidate shall be appointed until December 2025.

Interested candidates must reside in Region 2 of Dallastown Area School District, which includes Yoe Borough and York Township Wards 1 and 2, and meet the following qualifications:

- Candidate shall be of good moral character, at least eighteen (18) years of age, shall have been a resident of the district for at least one (1) year prior to the date of his/her election or appointment, and shall not be a holder of any office or position of profit under any government in the School District of Dallastown Area nor shall they be a member of a municipal council.

- Candidate shall not have been removed from any office of trust under federal, state or local laws for any malfeasance in such office. Except as provided by law, they shall not be engaged in a business transaction with the school district, be employed by the school district, or receive pay for services from the school district.

- Candidate shall, before entering the duties of the office, take and subscribe to the oath or affirmation prescribed by statute.

- Candidate shall file a statement of financial interests with the school district at the following times:
- Before taking the oath of office or entering upon his/her duties.
- Annually by May 1 serving on the Board.
- By May 1 of the year after leaving the Board.

Office Hours are Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Information may also be emailed to [email protected]. Letters of interest and resumes will be accepted until Tuesday, May 20, 2025.

Interested candidates will receive a Candidate Packet upon receipt of their letter of interest and resume. Candidate Packets must be completed and return to Lisa Little by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, May 23, 2025.

Eligible candidates should also be available for public interviews at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, June 2, 2025.
